The brands on The Merrier are registered companies that have met our ethical evaluation criteria and sell awesome ethical products that our customers and creators love.
The causes on The Merrier are charity projects run by not-for-profit organisations dedicated to doing good for society and the planet. We do not allow explicitly political causes on the platform.
We take a 20% commission on brand marketing campaigns, 20% on charitable contributions, and 15% on ecommerce sales. We invest all of this income back into our product, our campaigns and cause-led movements. While we’d love to run our company on love and gifts alone, we require a substantial revenue stream to cover our operational costs and pay our employees. We are 100% committed to ensuring this income empowers our customers and users, accelerates our campaigns and maximises product sales, thereby driving contributions to causes.
We are 100% committed to providing sustainable solutions for our community. This means we need to cover our costs. Covering our costs means sustaining a multi-stakeholder marketplace, with brands, causes, creators, and customers, as well as a diverse, international team. Our 20% commission on donations helps us to achieve this. Rest assured we are working day and night to create new opportunities for ethical brands and new flows of funding for causes that matter.

Yes. A creator’s cause receives the same percentage of profits from product marketing campaign transactions as it receives for goods sold. The percentage is set by the creator.
The Merrier uses Paypal's enterprise system to process all payments. This is means not only is your payment information protected by the world's leading online payment processor (The Merrier never receives or stores this information), but your purchase is protected by Paypal's legendary purchase guarantee (click here for details).
No. The retail price you see on the Merrier is the same retail price you will see elsewhere. Our generous brand partners have agreed to make smaller profit margins on their products in order to support our charitable activities. It’s a real win-win for society and consumers like yourself.
We use a mix of proprietary, AI-driven, matching technology and good old-fashioned knowledge and expertise. Technology is important but inspired decisions need a human touch.
Having received a brand campaign brief, creators are required to produce twice the number of posts are asked for in the brief (standardly 3) and to submit the posts for client approval. Brands respond with a ‘traffic light’ system of feedback, as follows:
GREEN: Post is approved and ready to go live. YELLOW: Post is approved but not as a paid post. Creator can post on their own behalf to drive traffic to their storefront. ORANGE: Post has potential but requires some minor changes and direction from brand. RED: Post does not meet brand standards and is not approved.
The creator owns the content. Brands cannot repurpose it without the creator’s permission.

It depends. The causes on The Merrier are charity projects run by not-for-profit organisations that are dedicated to doing good for society and the planet. We do not allow explicitly political causes, that is, causes that are aimed primarily to change existing government legislation. We find it unfortunate that many causes dedicated to doing good for society and the planet have been politicised, but this doesn’t make them explicitly political in nature. If a cause is aimed primarily to change existing government legislation, we consider it political and don’t allow it.
We think it’s important that your followers know exactly what cause they are supporting with their purchases. This is why we limit our creators to supporting one cause at a time.
The Merrier treats your data with the utmost confidentiality. We comply with the strictest data policies, including the 13 Privacy Principles outlined in the Australian Privacy Amendment (Enhancing Privacy Protection) Act (2012). We house your data in a secure environment, and we don’t on-sell it or provide it to any other third party.
We use data drawn from your linked social accounts, together with data aggregated from your social following, to inform our analytics. This works to your benefit, helping us to identify the ideal creator-brand and/or creator-brand-cause fit to enable you to run successful product marketing campaigns and launch impactful cause-based movements.
Rather than assess the ethical credentials of brands, we are mainly concerned to assess the ethical credentials of the products brands retail on The Merrier. We vet all products against The Merrier ethical framework. We are happy to work with established brands with a limited ethical track record so long as they can provide evidence that they’re on a journey towards ethical certification. However, we will not work with brands that are known to pollute the planet, cause social harms, or hurt our animal friends. We have an obligation to our customers and users to be a trusted marketplace for social good and we take this responsibility seriously.
Your product supplier handles returns. Please refer to the supplier’s shipping and returns details on your purchase receipt. Please note also that the percentage of the sale you gifted to the cause is non-refundable. A gift given is given for good.
Unlike Amazon, we don’t ship items from a central warehouse. Our products are shipped by different brands from different stores and warehouses, which can add to the shipping costs.

The Merrier works only with experienced not-for-profits that we have vetted ourselves. Rather than raise money for the charity or cause in general, we require cause partners prepare specific, financially-transparent, time-limited projects to upload to our platform. Our creators then generate funds for these specific projects. This means that when you support a cause on The Merrier, you know precisely what project your money is going to support, what outcomes to expect, and by when. To ensure that our projects are transparent as possible, we also require cause partners to produce media content on their activities to share on social media.
